Flexible scheduling

Lionheart Education’s IB homeschooling programme fits around your timetable to deliver sessions at a time that’s convenient for your family, rather than following a rote fixed timetable that replicates school.

Holistic support

Our tutors have firsthand experience of working with the International Baccalaureate, either taking it themselves or having a wealth of experience teaching the various sections. We can work with globally mobile families moving between the UK and other locations to maintain a comprehensive, efficient schedule so your child benefits from a fully-managed programme.

Clear roadmap

Our tutors lay everything out in advance, so both your child and you know exactly which goals are being worked towards, keeping everyone on the same page so we can provide frequent updates.

Exam-Ready

We provide a clear route to examination with our Lionheart School London in W14, which is a registered exam centre. We discuss examinations and IB online school fees in the UK, with our comprehensive approach and our London-based school with a JCQ and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) registration.

London & online support

We meet you where you are and provide the level of support your child needs rather than trying to mould them into the UK educational framework. If your child is already in an IB World School but needs extra tuition, or is continuing an IB education after school refusal or moving internationally, Lionheart Education can provide the help you need. Online IB tutoring works well when you are located overseas, with the same high-quality tutors offering the same level of support as our in-person IB tuition in London. We can arrange IB homeschool support in London or online, with subject-specific tutors who understand every facet of the International Baccalaureate.

International education without interruption

We partner with many families returning to the UK from living overseas and provide the correct level of support if you need to maintain an International Baccalaureate already started rather than switching to A-Levels. If your family is globally mobile, we can provide travelling tutors as well as IB homeschooling so your child can achieve this internationally recognised qualification. From HL Chemistry and Mathematics to language support, we can work with globally mobile families moving between the UK and other locations to maintain a comprehensive, efficient schedule so your child benefits from a fully-managed programme.

From home to university

We help with wider educational planning too if you plan to enter a competitive UK, US, or European university with advice and guidance on academic writing, independent research, and the Extended Essay section of an IB. Our tutors take care of everything from subject coordination to managing the workload, as well as providing a clear route to examination with our Lionheart School London in W14, which is a registered exam centre.

IB Middle Years Programme: building skills for university

A child studying the IB Middle Years Programme between the ages of 11 and 16 in the UK as part of their homeschooling program is learning to build the breadth of skills they’ll need ahead of the Diploma Programme. Home education for IB in the UK isn’t as hard as you might think. Most London tutors are for British A-Levels rather than international qualifications like the International Baccalaureate, but Lionheart Education understands the needs of travelling families moving between countries who need to maintain a consistent educational program whether it’s the MYP or the DP.

The IB tests a much wider set of skills compared to A-Levels, and the Theory of Knowledge can be particularly difficult without a tutor by your child’s side to walk them through it. It shows pupils how to manage their knowledge base across multiple disciplines, and the Extended Essay part of the course requires students to complete an extensive research piece of around 4,000 words.

Our tutors give Theory of Knowledge essay help as well as advising on their Extended Essay subject choices, as picking the wrong kind of topic can make research harder than it needs to be. We cover everything from source selection and drafting to personalised feedback, without writing any of the content ourselves, as we believe in empowering students to achieve their potential. We can discuss examinations and IB online school fees in the UK, with our comprehensive approach and our London-based school with a JCQ and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) registration.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can you study the IB Diploma at home in the UK?

With the right tuition for IB online and in-person, a student can achieve success at the Diploma level when home educated in the UK. We provide knowledgeable tutors to support students at every stage of the IB, from subject-specific tuition to TOK support and guidance with Extended Essays.

  • Can you do the IB Diploma fully online?

Although you can study for the IB Diploma online with Lionheart Education tutors, the exams themselves need to be taken at a registered exam centre, such as at our Lionheart School London. We support globally mobile families with online IB tuition which includes one-to-one sessions covering all aspects of this internationally recognised qualification.

  • Is the IB harder than A-Levels?

Many parents wonder which is harder, IB vs A-Levels, but both offer distinct advantages. Students in the UK focus on 3 or 4 A-Levels to develop deep focus, but the IB gives coverage of 6 subjects including English and Mathematics until the age of 19. When you consider the Extended Essay, TOK and CAS requirements, the IB can be harder to study for.

  • What is the IB Extended Essay?

The Extended Essay is an independent piece of research carried out by the student and comprises a 4,000-word essay. It’s an essential part of the IB Diploma Programme core where the student chooses their own subject, outlines a research question, and works to answer it with extensive research using academic sources. Lionheart IB tutors provide an excellent sounding board for this unique IB requirement.

  • What is Theory of Knowledge?

The TOK is designed to help students develop critical thinking and how to exercise judgement, and it’s a key component of the IB at Diploma level. Students are required to know how knowledge is formed and can be tested in various areas of study, and they will complete both an essay and an exhibition to demonstrate what they have learned.
