More than just a language
Latin is no longer widely taught in state schools and has disappeared in favour of modern foreign languages such as French and Spanish. However, Latin offers students more than just a language, as it forms the basis of many of the words and grammatical structures we know today in modern English.
Once a child begins to learn Latin, they will quickly see that it not only helps them develop a more precise and disciplined way of reading, but it can also help to boost their vocabulary and origins of words.
Latin has remained an important subject in many academically selective schools, and is a requisite for some Common Entrance exams. As it is not taught in all schools, private Latin tuition is often required for students to understand the language better, and we have many Latin tutors waiting to teach your child.
Latin stands apart from other modern foreign languages as it’s no longer spoken; however, children will learn to become more careful readers and writers, paying more attention to the structure and formation of language that can support other subjects such as English, Geography, and History. Latin is a useful subject to study whether your child will study it further or needs to meet basic requirements for Common Entrance.
