GCSE Revision Courses in London for Year 10 and Year 11

With so many different GCSEs and exam boards, studying for multiple GCSEs at the same time can be taxing for a young teenager. Our revision courses for GCSE have been designed for pupils in Year 10 & 11 who need support for specific subjects, giving them both the structure to supplement their revision as well as the confidence to tackle exams. School lessons can only cover so much of a topic, but our GCSE revision sessions go the extra mile to make sure students receive a depth of knowledge to consolidate their own learning.

Building foundations in Year 10

Starting revision courses in Year 10 allows students to get a handle on the foundations of their knowledge in a certain subject and solidify it so they can recall it well the following year for their GCSEs. Our GCSE revision courses in London take the pressure off certain subjects, as multiple mock papers, timed practice, and one-to-one feedback give them a distinct advantage when the time comes to sit the exam or complete coursework.

Final preparation in Year 11

In Year 11, pupils are making their final preparations for GCSE, and revision sessions can go over previous material to make sure all of the key facts are learned and able to be recalled with ease ahead of the exam. Weaknesses in Year 11 can also be tackled with focused sessions to refine exam technique or gaps in knowledge.

Who our GCSE courses support

Our GCSE and iGCSE revision courses are suitable for students in state schools, independent schools, as well as home-educated children requiring a final disciplined push.

Core subjects or grade-boosting for A-Level entry

Some families choose revision sessions to focus on essentials like English, Maths and Sciences, but other students need to meet certain grade levels to get onto A-Level courses, so in these circumstances we offer subject-specific tuition.

Easter and May half-term GCSE revision

Easter revision courses for GCSE sit alongside final preparations in May half-term sessions so your child has everything fresh in their mind as the main exams are just around the corner.

  • Easter revision

GCSE Easter revision courses are popular as it’s the last long break before exams begin in earnest, and they take place in April, approximately 4 to 8 weeks before the summer papers start. Our Easter courses entail 5 days of structured revision in a certain subject, and there is still enough time to correct any final mistakes or gaps in knowledge, as well as building confidence with exam papers.

  • May half-term revision

Our May revision courses for GCSE are slightly different, as exams are usually split either side of this break, so some subjects have already been taken. At this stage, it’s quite difficult to build new foundations of knowledge so close to the exam, so we focus on discipline in timing and adhering to mark schemes, as well as structuring answers correctly for maximum efficiency. Year 11 May half-term revision is not about overloading the student, but about calmly giving them GCSE last-minute revision in London, which includes GCSE mock exam preparation that sharpens their abilities.

Exam boards and subjects we cover

Here at Lionheart, we know that GCSE revision is only effective when it’s tied to the student’s exam board specifications and style of paper. That’s why every private tuition session for revision and GCSE revision course in London is aligned to the relevant papers, and we cover all of the major exam boards including:

AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE).

Small GCSE revision classes and one-to-one support

We’ve been leading GCSE revision courses in London for many years using subject-specific experts who have taught GCSE in the past, currently teach, or have experience with exam board specifications, including examiners.

Our courses are built around the syllabus and papers, with tutors who know how to bring out the best in your child to achieve the results they need. Pupils will always be taught by someone who can diagnose exactly how and why marks are being lost, especially in questions with 8+ marks available, and show students what examiners are looking for.

We believe the small class sizes we limit our revision sessions to allow for a more interactive approach, with individuals able to question certain aspects of the course and receive one-to-one feedback as standard. Lionheart aims to create a serious working environment with the same teachers delivering across the course so continuity is maintained.

"The one-to-one feedback made all the difference – she finally understood why she was losing marks, not just that she was."

"Revision sessions at school always felt too rushed to actually help. At Lionheart, my tutor worked through exactly where I was going wrong in Chemistry and Maths, and by the time exams came round I actually felt ready instead of just hoping for the best."

Frequently asked questions

  • When should my child take a GCSE revision course?

We offer GCSE revision courses throughout Year 10 and 11, including in term-time, Easter and Summer. The main revision window for GCSE is in Easter of Year 11, as students will benefit from five full days of subject-specific revision one or two months before their exam. For sharpening technique, May half-term sessions are ideal, and we hold mock weeks throughout November, January and February to help children prepare for school mocks.

  • Which exam boards do you cover?

Lionheart Education covers all of the major UK exam boards including AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and Cambridge Assessment International Education. Sessions are always tailored to a student’s exam board and specification, and our excellent teachers will always use the past papers and mark scheme advice from the correct route. We also provide revision sessions for IGCSEs for a select number of subjects.

  • Do you offer single-subject GCSE courses?

A structured revision week can cover basic subjects like English, Maths, Sciences, and Languages all in one session, but we also offer single-subject exam revision. Times and dates vary for each of the courses, but check with our team in advance to book your child onto our GCSE revision courses in London, as GCSE Easter revision course placements fill up quickly.

  • Are GCSE revision courses taught in small groups?

Yes, we know just how important it is for teachers to have the ability to work with a small group as well as offer individualised advice, and this is only possible with a small class size at GCSE revision. Together, students work towards maintaining or improving their predicted grades and take part in timed condition exams and marked past papers, each with feedback tailored to the individual student.

  • Can my child sit GCSEs at Lionheart School London?

Pupils usually sit all GCSEs at the school they attend; however, if you are homeschooling your child or are a recently relocated international family, we can take care of all the paperwork so your child can sit their exam at our Lionheart School London. External candidates for GCSE in London should get in touch at the earliest opportunity so we can guarantee arrangements and coursework restrictions.
