One of the most daunting parts of studying geography for a child of any age is the large volume of material, including case studies, that they are required to remember. For each topic in geography, a single case study will form the basis of much of the exam. For example, on tropical storms, students need to memorise dates, locations, and multiple statistics of the 2013 Typhoon Haiyan, or for plate tectonics, the 2021 Haiti Earthquake and how it affected the island and its people.
Revision can quickly become overwhelming with so many case studies to learn by heart, but good geography tutoring will break it down for the child to prevent it from becoming too fragmented. Not only will a Lionheart tutor show students how to revise for case studies, but they will also empower them to wield the information to their advantage in an exam situation. Tuition outside of the classroom shows students how common themes like impact, risk, inequality and emergency management occur across multiple case studies to narrow their focus and learn only the most salient information.
