Who Lionheart A-Level revision courses are aimed at

A-Levels represent a significant step up from GCSE, so each one of our A-Level revision courses in London is designed specifically to help students in Year 12 & 13 focus clearly when school revision is not enough.

Whether students are in Year 12 or 13, or are resitting a year, Lionheart’s A-Level exam revision courses based in London are the ideal way to close gaps, give a boost to last-minute revision, and get a real feel for what exam papers are actually looking for. This approach suits families with independent private school children, homeschooled children, and students in state education who aren’t receiving the due care and attention from the school at this crucial time.

Easter A-level revision, May half-term top-ups and mock-weeks

In late March and April, the main revision window opens up for A-Levels, perfectly timed just a few weeks before exams start in the summer.

Our courses are taught by Lionheart subject specialists who have been A-Level teachers, sat on exam boards, or have been examiners themselves.

  • Easter revision

Our courses differ for each of the periods, but our five-day intensive Easter A-Level revision courses in London are very effective. Not only do they allow students to revisit the content from the past 2 years in detail, but the courses can also spot errors ahead of the exams, as well as gaps in knowledge that can be a major weakness.

  • May half-term top ups

The May half-term block revision works on exam technique and time management more than just subject knowledge, but each session is still tailored to the specific subjects, exam boards, and mark scheme.

  • Mock-weeks throughout winter

A-Level mock exam preparation is available as one or two days throughout the winter months so students can get a good feel for how exams run, and identify where they are falling behind. Our teachers at Lionheart School London can pick up on this quickly and put corrective measures in place to bring students back in line with their predicted grades, and even improve on them.

Exam boards and A-Level subjects we cover

Lionheart A-Level revision courses cover all of the main exam boards including AQA, OCR, WJEC, Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), so you can rest assured each session is properly tailored to the student’s learning. We’ll only ever teach courses in line with the actual exam routes to ensure exam-board specificity, as each paper and marking style varies greatly from board to board.

Lionheart teachers will always use Ofqual guidelines for grade-boundary context in discussing predicted grades and mock results, as well as the standard of qualifications offered by an A-Level.

Specialist teaching and one-to-one feedback

A-Level papers require a great deal more than students expect at first, so it’s important that they see and attempt mock papers in advance, and our specialist teachers at Lionheart School London know just how to engage students.

All revision courses for A-Level are compiled and delivered by the same teachers with subject-specialist knowledge, giving students the very best guidance and advice they need to thrive and gain confidence before taking exams. The small revision groups we specialise in here at Lionheart allow students to ask questions and receive immediate feedback, without feeling like they are disappearing into a large classroom of peers. The atmosphere in each session is fun but serious, giving sixth form students the kind of environment that fosters learning ability combined with one-to-one support when needed.

As an aside, we also offer private A-Level tuition for students online or in their homes, and can help prepare Oxbridge admissions, as well as UCAS applications.

Courses for A-Level retakes and exam registration

  • A-level retakes

A-Level retakes call for a different approach to revision. Our teachers are skilled at identifying whether a student’s difficulty comes from gaps in subject knowledge or from struggling to apply that knowledge under exam conditions, and build a plan around the real cause rather than a generic refresher. We offer focused, last-minute revision courses in London for students who need to sharpen their knowledge quickly, as well as a more bespoke option for those resitting one or more subjects: one-to-one private tuition built entirely around the individual student’s needs. Courses are intensive and led by the same subject specialists throughout, with dates published up to a year ahead so families can book early. Where useful, we also coordinate directly with schools and parents — including tailored support for Year 13 students repeating an A-Level, and Year 12 students who want extra support to stay on track before their final year.

  • Exam registration and our exam centre

If a student is no longer enrolled at a college or school, we can register them to sit their exams at our JCQ and CAIE-approved exam centre in London. This route is available to all external candidates, including homeschooled students, giving them a recognised, fully invigilated setting in which to take their A-Levels.

"The one-to-one feedback made all the difference – she finally understood why she was losing marks, not just that she was."

"Revision sessions at school always felt too rushed to actually help. At Lionheart, my tutor worked through exactly where I was going wrong in Chemistry and Maths, and by the time exams came round I actually felt ready instead of just hoping for the best."

Frequently asked questions

  • When should my child take an A-Level revision course?

Although we provide year-round tuition for A-Level students, we have specific windows in April and May for Year 13 pupils to experience five days of focused revision well before the summer papers. Easter courses are intensive and cover everything students need to know, while May half-term courses are ideal for polishing and preparing for exams. We also offer mock exam days in the winter months to highlight strengths and expose weaknesses.

  • Which A-Level exam boards do you cover?

Lionheart Education covers all of the main exam boards in the UK with our A-Level revision courses. This includes AQA, WJEC, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and Cambridge Assessment International Education, and we stay up to date with any changes within the exam boards so your child is well-prepared for the summer papers. Each session is aligned to your child’s specific board, with past papers and mocks for the chosen route.

  • Do you offer single-subject A-Level revision courses?

Yes, as students usually only take 3 or 4 A-Levels, our revision courses are specific to each of the subjects. Many students can handle one or two A-Levels on their own or with tutor help, but then opt for revision courses where there is a lot of course material and exam technique to get right, especially when the grade has consequences for their path to university. We cover all of the main single-subject courses, but we are happy to confirm your chosen course when you get in touch.

  • Are revision courses for A-Level taught in small groups?

Yes, as we understand the benefits of small group sizes when it comes to something as important as revising for A-Level. Pupils can interact with the sessions more readily, practice under pressure without stress, and receive individualised feedback on their exam technique or past paper mock results. Exact group sizes are confirmed when we publish course dates, and the most popular sixth form subjects fill up fast.

  • Can my child sit A-Levels at Lionheart School London?

For pupils who are homeschooling, retaking A-Levels, or arriving from international schools, Lionheart School London is the ideal place to take their A-Levels, when the specific exam route has been confirmed. They can take part in our revision courses, and we take care of the enrolment and registration process so they can sit exams as an external candidate if they are unable to take A-Levels at a college or sixth-form.
