Non-Verbal Reasoning

Non-verbal reasoning assesses how well a student can identify patterns, relationships and sequences using shapes and visual information rather than words. It appears frequently in 11+ assessments and cognitive ability tests and can initially feel unfamiliar to students who have had little exposure to this type of problem.

Success depends on recognising common visual relationships such as rotation, symmetry, progression, reflection and changes in shape or position. With practice, students learn to break complex-looking questions into smaller, more manageable steps.

Lionheart tutors help students develop these skills through structured, one-to-one preparation. The emphasis is not simply on completing large numbers of questions, but on understanding how patterns work so students can confidently apply their reasoning to new problems.
