Our history

In response to a growing demand from families who valued our personalised home education services, we established our school in 2002.

Our ethos

At Lionheart, we tailor every learning journey to the individual — working closely with schools, families and professionals to understand the full picture.

Many of our students have faced challenges in traditional settings, and our mission is to help them reconnect with learning through a bespoke, multidisciplinary approach that’s as aspirational as it is supportive.

“Many students come to us having faced challenges in traditional school settings — whether due to personal circumstances, disrupted learning, or simply not being stretched enough.

Our mission is to reignite their passion for learning through a captivating, bespoke curriculum tailored to their individual needs and aspirations.

We believe that with the right support, every young person can achieve success and find joy in learning.”

Who We Support

Tailored to every learning profile

Our highly bespoke, one-to-one model allows us to support students who might not fit in a traditional schooling environment. We adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of our students, moving away from traditional methods that may not have served them well in the past.

What sets
Lionheart School apart

Just thirteen students – by design

We limit enrolment to 13 so each student is known, supported and feels properly understood. Our unmatched staff ratio creates the conditions for confidence to grow, effort to deepen, and potential to be realised.

Tutors that become mentors

You’ll study with surgeons, scientists, lawyers, artists — not just credentialed teachers — because diverse expertise enriches learning and inspiration. We actively encourage and nurture a student’s passions through extracurricular activities.

One-to-one, from day one

No classes. No grouping. Every subject is taught individually, paced to each student’s needs and aspirations. This will probably be the hardest your child will ever be required to work.

Exam-ready across systems

We teach all major UK exam boards, operate as a registered exam centre, and ensure continuity even through system switches or disruptions.

Experts in complex educational journeys

Our senior team overlaps psychology, adolescent development, and advanced pedagogy. Programmes aren’t off the shelf — they’re built, refined, and overseen.

"My son sat his GCSEs with Lionheart at only 14 years old. This is a first class facility with lovely and highly capable staff who made my son feel at ease from the moment we started to the very end. I can’t recommend Lionheart highly enough and thanks to you all!"

Andy, Parent of Student Who Sat Exams at LSL

“Only 3 ½ months since we asked you to take our daughter on, she has discovered how much fun learning is, has done her GCSEs and got a place at Stowe. We can't believe how well she has done. Thank you for providing the wonderfully relaxed, healthy and fun environment. We are forever grateful to you.”

Dr K.Reynolds, Parent of LSL Student

"I have had an extremely positive experience of Lionheart. The tutors are excellent - all of them that we have hired via Lionheart have been great teachers, reliable and pleasant. The opportunity to learn at the school is also valuable for the kids. It is great to be able to book tutors to come to our home. The administrative staff are always helpful and responsive. I have no hesitation in recommending Lionheart."

Karen C, Associate Professor in Psychology and a Chartered Psychologist

"Lionheart is a thoughtful, consistently excellent provider of education and tuition for children with learning differences who are challenged by the English education system. Nothing is too much trouble and they support the parents as well as the children."

A Student's Perspective

“I ended up preparing for my Maths and English GCSEs in just four months. The tutors were genuinely supportive and completely invested in me. The highlight was opening my GCSE results and realising I’d actually done really well.”

Lionheart School Tutors

"Our tutors are not only educators. They are writers, musicians, directors, scientists and professional athletes. We believe their lives beyond teaching make them richer mentors — people who model curiosity, discipline and ambition in a way students instinctively respond to."

We support students who thrive outside of conventional classrooms — from those with learning differences such as ASD, ADHD, or SEND, to high-achieving, gifted students, athletes, and young people needing flexible provision.

  • How is Lionheart School different from mainstream schools?

Unlike traditional classrooms, we teach on a one-to-one or very small group basis. We offer incredible flexibility for our students, with some combining online or homeschooling programmes alongside in-person attendance.

Yes, we accept students year-round, often at short notice, and design programmes that allow them to transition smoothly with minimal academic disruption.

  • Which qualifications do you offer?

We support Common Entrance (11+ and 13+), GCSEs, IGCSEs, A Levels, and the IB, alongside scholarship preparation and university applications. As a registered examination centre, we also work with all major UK exam boards.
