Key aims of our university consultancy

A tailored strategy

We help students avoid wasted time or misaligned applications by setting realistic, ambitious goals and creating a tailored plan.

Standout personal statements and essays

We guide students to write with clarity and individuality, highlighting who they are and why they belong on their chosen course.

Interview and assessment readiness

From Oxbridge interviews to admissions tests, we ensure students are well-prepared, calm under pressure, and able to articulate their strengths.

A shortlist that fits

We recommend courses and universities that align with academic ability, personality, long-term goals, and, where relevant, international systems.

Improved academic performance

Where needed, we pair consultancy with expert tuition to strengthen grades or test results ahead of application deadlines.

Greater confidence and clarity

Many students start uncertain about their next step. Our process brings focus and direction, so they can move forward with conviction.

Our Process

What to expect from our consultancy

Whether it be tuition or end to end university advisory, we work collaboratively with you to ensure you start your university journey strongly.

  • Initial consultation

Every engagement begins with a detailed conversation led by a senior consultant, reviewing academic records, personal interests, reference letters, test scores, and long-term goals.

This ensures that every recommendation is rooted in a full understanding of the student’s profile and aspirations.

  • Assessment & readiness review

Where appropriate, we recommend academic or aptitude assessments to benchmark the student’s readiness for their chosen pathway.

This also helps identify where targeted tuition or additional enrichment may be required before applications begin.

  • University & course shortlists

We develop a personalised shortlist aligned with the student’s strengths, interests, and academic trajectory — whether UK, US, or another global system.

Every option is explained in terms of entry requirements, academic culture, teaching style, and long-term relevance.

  • Timelines & submissions

From UCAS deadlines and Oxbridge early applications to US rolling admissions, we manage the timeline, coordinate supporting documentation, and ensure the student is on track at every stage.

For families managing multiple systems, we aim to clarify the process for you.

  • Application support

Students work with consultants and subject-specialist tutors on admissions test preparation (e.g. LNAT, UCAT, BMAT, TSA, ELAT), personal statements, essays, and interview performance.

Each part of the process is rehearsed, reviewed, and refined with expert oversight.

  • Full guidance to placement

After offers are received, we support students with decision-making, appeals (where necessary), and alternatives such as post-qualification applications or overseas transfers.

Many families return to us for postgraduate consultancy, reinforcing our reputation for long-term partnership.

“The mock interviews were invaluable. I didn’t just practise questions — I learned how to think out loud, how to slow down, how to connect ideas. My final interview felt like a conversation, not a performance. I honestly don’t think I’d have received an offer from Cambridge without that level of preparation.”

Zaynab A., Natural Sciences offer holder, UAE

"We’d moved from Asia to the UK mid-GCSEs and were lost on SATs, APs, timelines — everything. Lionheart brought order to the chaos. They built a plan that made sense across systems, matched our son with a brilliant writing tutor for his Common App essay, and helped us land offers from three top US universities.”

The Edwards family, Hong Kong to Surrey

“We weren’t even sure what subject our daughter wanted to pursue, let alone which university. Lionheart helped her narrow it down with care and real insight — she’s now heading to Bristol to study Philosophy and feels completely at home with the choice. The process never felt forced or packaged. Just incredibly thoughtful.”

Frequently asked questions

  • When should we begin the university application process?

Ideally, preparation begins in Year 12 (or the equivalent) so that subject choices, super‑curricular activity and strategy can align ahead of key deadlines. However, we frequently work with students on accelerated timelines or during Gap Years, ensuring no pathway is closed.

  • Can you support students applying to universities outside the UK?

Yes. Our consultancy covers applications to the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia — including Common App strategy, SAT/ACT timelines, international grading systems and transitions between different educational systems.

  • What distinguishes Oxbridge, medicine or law applications from standard university applications?

Such applications demand early planning, tailored testing (TSA, MAT, UCAT, LNAT, BMAT), subject‑specific experience and interviews designed to assess deeper intellectual rigour and motivation. Our service provides structured readiness across each of these components.

  • How do you handle personal statements and application essays?

We craft an authentic representation of the student’s academic journey, intellectual interests and future story. We work iteratively with students and guide the narrative, tone, evidence and structure — never templated, always individual.

  • What happens if our child needs academic support or their profile isn’t yet competitive?

We assess readiness at the outset and, if required, integrate tailored tuition or mentoring into the consultancy programme to ensure the student is in the strongest possible position when applications are submitted.

  • How do you work with international or overseas families?

We operate globally, coordinating across time‑zones via secure platforms, providing clear timelines, deadline tracking and country‑specific guidance. Many of our international clients successfully apply to UK or US institutions with our full support.
