Rupert Syme Chairman & Co-Founder of Lionheart

Chairman & Head of Educational Consultancy

Rupert Syme

Rupert’s relationship with Lionheart began at the age of 12 when he moved to the UK from the Turks & Caicos. He received top class tuition and school placement advice from Lionheart, which he believes completely changed the course of his life. Having secured a place at Eton, Rupert thrived. Upon completing his education, he was determined to provide the opportunities for other children that had been offered to him. He returned to Lionheart as a tutor whilst training in Psychometric Assessment and Education and eventually became Managing Director in 2002, and Chairman in 2012.

Rupert specialises in combining a multi-disciplinary approach to create educational solutions and strategy for young people with mental health difficulties, neurodevelopmental disorders and addictions. He meets and works with every child educated in Lionheart’s School to develop bespoke programmes based on their cognitive profile and background. Rupert also continues to visit prep and senior schools, advising young people on school selection, strategy and crisis management. He is passionate about supporting young people, understanding them, supporting their strengths while being aware of their difficulties, so that a path to realise their potential can be created and put in place.

Rupert received a first class undergraduate degree in Psychology for Education at Birkbeck, University of London and gained a Masters degree in Child and Adolescent Mental Health from UCL in 2022. He is a member of the Society for Research in Child Development, and an affiliate member of the British Psychological Society.

When he is not speaking to families and students, Rupert enjoys taking to the seas in his sailing yacht.
